Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have been named in Liverpool's starting XI for the all-Premier League pre-season friendly against Leeds United at Soldier Field in Chicago. Ryan Gravenberch, who also reported late after World Cup duty, is among the substitutes.
Team news and absentees
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has called upon Isak and Wirtz after victories over Sunderland and Wrexham, as he seeks to keep his perfect record intact. However, £60 million signing Jeremy Jacquet is not in the squad at all.
Fellow new signing Victor Munoz is still absent following Spain's World Cup victory earlier this month. Cody Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk and Argentina's Alexis Mac Allister are also on extended breaks after the World Cup.
Joe Gomez, who picked up an injury in the friendly against Sunderland last weekend, is unavailable and could miss the start of the Premier League season. He joins long-term absentees Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni on the sidelines.
Changes from the last friendly
Iraola has rotated significantly in each game so far, with Giorgi Mamardashvili the only player to start all three matches. Harvey Elliott makes way for Wirtz in the lineup.
Right-back Jeremie Frimpong comes in for Calvin Ramsay, while academy graduates Luke Chambers and Ifeanyi Ndukwe have been selected at the heart of defence. Milos Kerkez, who Iraola managed at Bournemouth, starts at left-back over Kostas Tsimikas.
Dominik Szoboszlai starts alongside Trey Nyoni in midfield. Rio Ngumoha, who scored Liverpool's winner against Wrexham, starts up front with Isak.
