Haaland's £100k book gift, taxidermy, and £22m property empire

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has spent his substantial wages on a range of items, from a rare book he gave away to a stuffed raccoon and a £4m car. His property portfolio across Europe is believed to be worth more than £22m.

£100,000 Book Donated to Norwegian Library

Haaland bought a rare 1594 edition of Snorre Sturlason's Royal Sagas for £100,000 (1.3 million kroner) at auction, setting a record for the most expensive Norwegian book ever sold. He then donated it to his home municipality of Time, Norway, so locals can read about the region's history.

Haaland said: "I've been lucky enough to live out my dream through football. I know not everyone gets that chance. Books give so many more people the chance to dream big, see new possibilities and find their own path." The volume chronicles the history of medieval Norse kings, featuring stories of Viking kings, queens, farmers and warriors. It is now on permanent display at Time's local library.

Wild West Shopping Spree and Taxidermy

During the World Cup, Haaland and his teammates visited Wild Bill's Western Store in Dallas after Norway's 2-1 win over the Ivory Coast. The group bought cowboy boots, western shirts, hip flasks and belts, with a bill of $10,000 (about £7,500) that Haaland paid. He joked on his YouTube Vlog: "Someone needs to."

He also spent $750 (£564) on a stuffed raccoon holding a liquor bottle and $900 (£677) on a pair of stuffed squirrels, including one dressed as a sheriff.

Luxury Bags and £4m Car

Haaland owns a range of luxury bags, many supplied by Hermes, with prices ranging from £8,000 to almost £40,000. In 2025, he bought a Bugatti Tourbillon for £4m. The car has an 8.3-litre V16 engine producing more than 1,000 horsepower, plus an electric motor adding 800 horsepower. It can reach 127mph in five seconds, with a potential top speed of 277mph. Haaland's friend, billionaire car collector Ole Ertvaag, helped him acquire the car, of which Bugatti made just 250.

Property Portfolio Across Europe

Haaland has invested in real estate in England, Spain and Norway, with a portfolio believed to be worth more than £22m. He purchased a home in Spain before his 21st birthday, and his favourite home is said to be a £5m mansion in Marbella, which includes a pool, landscaped gardens and a large underground area. More recently, he acquired a Man City-themed home in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on a video to launch City's tie-up real estate company Ohana Residences, he said: "Hi everyone, I'm so happy because I’m joining the Manchester City Ohana project. We will be neighbours in Abu Dhabi. I just got a house and so did my father."
