Haaland ditches iconic long locks for dramatic new short hairstyle

Erling Haaland has cut his iconic long locks for a radical new short hairstyle just hours before Manchester City start their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth.

The Manchester City striker, 26, has become synonymous with his long blonde hair and went viral during the World Cup as social media users who are unfamiliar with the Norwegian loved his locks during the tournament.

New season, new trim

But hours before returning to Premier League action, Haaland has stunned everyone by previewing a number of short hairstyles that he is planning to rock after chopping his flowing hair off.

Haaland took to X on Sunday morning to post a short video of the before and after of his haircut before sharing a few selfies of him trialling different styles, leaving fans guessing on how he will look when he takes to the field.

Fans react to the new look

He captioned the video: "New season, new trim. Full episode on YT!" While his later snaps were shared with the words: "Short hair don't care."

However, concerned fans took to social media to react to his new dramatic look, worrying that his goalscoring powers might have been in his locks, one user said: "Have you not chopped off the goals?"

While others referenced the biblical story of Samson, whose hair was cut and the act broke his sacred vow to God and caused him to lose his supernatural physical strength.

One said: "And that’s how Samson lost his powers," a second added: "Looks far better (but he better not be a modern day Samson)." A third echoed: "wtf!!! have u done to Man City’s Samson!!!!!?" While a rival fan teased: "Hopefully haircut has same effect as Samson!"

This is a breaking sports story and is being constantly updated with the latest news, pictures and videos.
