Gabby Agbonlahor has revealed Jack Grealish's mindset and fitness ahead of a possible return to Everton, saying: "He’s hungry to play football, he’s determined."
Grealish's recovery and Everton connection
The former Aston Villa attacker, a close friend and ex-teammate of Grealish, said the Manchester City player, 30, had been working hard to back up that ambition as he prepares to return from the foot injury that ended his season in January.
Grealish spent his recovery at Everton until the conclusion of his loan spell this summer. His popularity and performances saw him settle in quickly on Merseyside, and his loss, after leaving the Blues to a statement win at Villa Park, was a devastating blow to Everton's campaign.
Moyes and potential return
The club entered the summer keen to explore a return deal for the playmaker, who is understood to be open to that prospect. David Moyes will likely need assurances over the success of his recovery, but according to Agbonlahor, the signs are positive.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Agbonlahor recounted: "I was just in Mallorca, I saw him there with others. He’s training hard. I knew he was going. I walked into dinner, I walked into a restaurant, I sat down and he’s come from behind me out of nowhere, grabbed me around the shoulder and I was like: ‘Who is this? Oh no! It’s over! Who is this?’ Who have I upset?’
"But it was him and yeah, he’s been training hard and I think, maybe he stays at City, maybe he moves to Everton, I’m not sure. He’s hungry to play football, he’s determined."
Agbonlahor and Brazil comments
Agbonlahor added: "Some players at 30 - and he’s got all the money in the world - he can retire and leave generational money but he wants to carry on… David Moyes loved him."
Grealish was discussed after he sent a video message welcoming host Alan Brazil back to the station after undergoing a life-saving liver transplant. After thanking him for the support, Brazil commented on Grealish's future: "I’m dying for him to get a run again. By the way, he looks well - he looks thin in the face."
