FPL Deadline Moved: Why It Changed and Tonight's Cut-Off Explained
FPL Deadline Moved: Why It Changed and Tonight's Cut-Off

The deadline for fantasy Premier League (FPL) players is 90 minutes before the first game of every Gameweek. This means it changes each week depending on Friday or Saturday fixtures, European commitments and TV rights scheduling.

Why Was the FPL Deadline Moved?

The previous deadline was one hour before the first kick-off. It was changed because team news was being leaked before the cut-off for making transfers. Premier League clubs previously could not release their starting XIs earlier than an hour before kick-off. However, a rule change last season allowed clubs to post team news up to 75 minutes before the first whistle.

Tonight's Deadline for Gameweek 1

Arsenal kick off against Coventry City at 8pm on Friday, 21 August 2026. Based on the 90-minute rule, the deadline for Gameweek 1 is 6.30pm on Friday evening.
