A young footballer and father who tragically died after an alleged hit and run in Arnold has been pictured. Tyler Fairman, 26, was out with his teammates from Woodthorpe Park Rangers FC when a red Vauxhall Astra mounted the pavement and collided with a group of people in the Market Place in the early hours of May 9. He sustained serious injuries in the incident and died in hospital on Tuesday evening (May 12).
Fundraising Campaign for Family
A fundraising campaign has since been set up on JustGiving to support Mr Fairman's family. It has already raised more than £11,800 as of Thursday morning (May 14). The fundraiser describes Mr Fairman as "not only a devoted partner, but also a loving father to his beautiful son", adding that he and his partner, Laraya, were expecting a baby girl "very soon", Nottinghamshire Live reports.
The fundraiser, set up by Laura Clifford who describes herself as a colleague of Laraya, says: "Laraya is currently in the final stages of her pregnancy, facing a loss no one should ever have to endure."
"As well as being a dedicated NHS healthcare worker, Laraya also runs her own beauty business, which she will now need to step away from. We want to ease any financial pressure she may face, allowing her to focus on herself, her healing, and her babies without added stress or worry."
"Any contribution will be massively appreciated and will all go towards supporting Laraya and her children during this incredibly painful and difficult time. Thank you so much for your kindness, love and support."
Charges and Court Appearance
Duane Anthony, 40 and of Marton Road, Bulwell, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and other driving offences. Following Mr Fairman's death, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed a murder investigation had been initiated. Anthony appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 11, where he faced the families and friends of the victims as they attended the hearing in the public gallery. He was remanded into custody and is due to appear next at Nottingham Crown Court on June 8.
