Everton have completed the signing of Brennan Johnson from Crystal Palace, with Dwight McNeil moving in the opposite direction to Selhurst Park.
The 25-year-old winger has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Goodison Park, just seven months after joining the Eagles from Tottenham Hotspur for a then club-record £35million fee.
Johnson's Career So Far
Johnson, who has earned 45 caps for Wales and scored seven international goals, began his career at his hometown club Nottingham Forest. After a loan spell at Lincoln City in 2020/21, he scored in double figures for Forest in two consecutive seasons before moving to Spurs for £47.5million on September 1, 2023.
During the 2024/25 campaign, he netted 18 goals in all competitions for the north London side.
McNeil's Move to Palace
McNeil, 26, joined Everton from Burnley for £20million on July 28, 2022, making 128 appearances and scoring 15 goals for the Blues. He was close to joining Palace on loan in the winter transfer window with an obligation to make the move permanent for £20million this summer, but the deal collapsed at the last minute.
His partner, Megan Sharpley, had criticised the confusion on social media at the time, saying they were left "broken-hearted" and "hurt more than I can say." Now, McNeil will finally make the move to south London after Everton acknowledged his "loyal service" over four years on Merseyside.
