Driouech opens Rangers door as PSV frustration grows

Couhaib Driouech has opened the door to a Rangers move after expressing frustration at his lack of game time and appreciation at PSV Eindhoven.

Transfer Talks Continue

Record Sport exclusively revealed that an initial Rangers offer has been rejected by the Dutch giants, although it is expected that their £6 million valuation will be met. Talks are ongoing as both clubs look to thrash out a deal for the Moroccan winger.

Champions League Highlights

Driouech scored twice against Liverpool and also netted against Napoli in the Champions League last season. However, he started just five Eredivisie games and was a substitute 24 times, leaving him unhappy with his situation.

In an interview last month, he did not hide his frustration: "I had many highlights last season, especially in the Champions League, but to be honest, I expected more from the season. I would have liked to have played more often."

He added: "I do think I deserved more games and to have had more appreciation. Three goals and two assists in six Champions League matches is not normal. For example, I scored twice against Liverpool, but then I didn't play against FC Volendam a few days later. That really hit me hard."

Desire to Play Regularly

Driouech emphasized his need for consistent playing time, stating: "I want to play no matter what. If that’s here, it’s here. If not, I’ll have to look further. I’ve reached the point where I know I can do it and I really want to show it. If that’s not here, it would have to be somewhere else, but I wouldn’t be afraid to take on a new challenge."

Learning from Perisic

Despite his frustrations, Driouech credited PSV's veteran Croatian winger Ivan Perisic for boosting his development. He said: "We play in the same position and he is a big name in football history who has achieved a lot. I have learned a lot from him. Often after training, we go for a bit of finishing practice or crosses. He is an example to many of the guys in everything he does to always stay fit and that is admirable."
