Chelsea are reportedly open to selling 11 players this transfer window, with the club looking to recoup nearly £500m in transfer fees. The Blues have already been active in the market, completing eight summer signings, including a marquee £117m deal for Morgan Rogers and the recent arrival of Jordan Henderson.
Busy summer for new boss Alonso
New manager Xabi Alonso has overseen a hectic few months, with Chelsea also securing Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, Danny Welbeck, Valentin Barco, Geovany Quenda, Marco Palestra, and Emmanuel Emegha. The recruitment drive is aimed at helping Alonso improve on last season's disappointing 10th-placed finish in the Premier League.
However, the influx of new players has left the squad bloated, prompting the club to consider offloading a significant number of players before the transfer deadline. According to The Athletic, up to 11 first-team players could make permanent moves away from Stamford Bridge.
Defensive departures on the cards
With Lacroix arriving, Chelsea need to trim their centre-back options. Alonso has admitted he would ideally like only "four or five" centre-backs in his squad. Trevoh Chalobah is close to joining Como in a £31m deal, but he is not the only defender set to leave.
Axel Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, could depart for £25m, while Benoit Badiashile is valued at £30m. Full-back Malo Gusto is also not considered indispensable, with a £75m price tag attached.
Midfield and attack targets
In midfield, Enzo Fernandez has been consistently linked with a move away, but Chelsea would demand £120m for the Argentine, who joined from Benfica for £106m in January 2023. Pedro Neto is another player the club appreciates but is reportedly not untouchable, with a £70m asking price.
In attack, Danny Welbeck's arrival is expected to push several strikers towards the exit. Liam Delap is considered one of the most likely to leave after a frustrating debut season, though Chelsea would still look to make a profit on the £30m they paid Ipswich Town. Nicolas Jackson, valued at £65m, has attracted interest from Aston Villa after a loan spell at Bayern Munich, while Marc Guiu has a £25m asking price.
Potential total fees near £500m
Emmanuel Emegha, valued at £20m, is claimed to have an uncertain role at the club following his move from Strasbourg, and David Datro Fofana is priced at £3m. The combined potential fees for the 11 players total £494m, with some possibly leaving for more.
