Jamie Carragher has criticised Liverpool's players after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, questioning their character and willingness to 'dig in'. The former Liverpool defender spoke after Richarlison's 90th-minute equaliser denied Arne Slot's side a crucial victory in their push for Champions League qualification.
Liverpool took the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai's free-kick after 18 minutes, but a lacklustre second-half performance allowed Spurs to level. Carragher claimed the performance was 'awful' and that Liverpool have become easy to play against. He suggested that the squad's makeup, rather than the manager, is the root of the problem.
'There's just too many players who just want to play when the ball's at their feet. They don't want to dig in and make it difficult,' Carragher said. He also criticised the defending for Richarlison's goal, pointing out that Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk failed to challenge for a long ball.
