The Carabao Cup third-round draw is complete, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs learning their next opponents. Premier League heavyweights enter the competition at this stage, with the Gunners, Manchester United and Liverpool all included in the draw for the first time.
Heavyweights enter the fray
Chelsea have yet to confirm their place in the third round, hosting Luton Town in the second round on Thursday evening. Tottenham are through after easing past Charlton Athletic on Wednesday, with new forward Savio scoring on debut. They have been handed a tricky trip to face Liverpool.
West Ham, Coventry and Ipswich took early kick-offs on Tuesday to book their places in the next stage. With seeded sides competing in Europe unable to face one another in the third round, a pre-draw took place before Wednesday night’s action to establish whether they would play at home or away.
Home and away ties
Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Manchester City, Sunderland, Bournemouth and Liverpool have been given home ties, while Arsenal and Aston Villa will travel. Third-round matches are scheduled for September 7 and 14.
