Bruno Guimaraes is heading to Newcastle United's La Manga training base ahead of Matthias Jaissle's appointment as head coach. The Brazil international was expected to report on Monday evening but did not arrive, and is now making his way to the Spanish facility this morning.
Extended break after World Cup exit
The 28-year-old has been on an extended break after Brazil's World Cup campaign ended in the last 16, where they were knocked out by Norway. Throughout the summer he has been repeatedly linked with Arsenal, following a six-week transfer saga, but the Premier League champions have not made a bid.
Jaissle arrives after paperwork delay
New head coach Matthias Jaissle landed on Saturday, with his move from Al-Ahli slightly delayed by a paperwork issue with the Saudi club. Guimaraes was scheduled to meet Newcastle officials and, crucially, Jaissle during the camp.
Chronicle Live reported at the weekend that the midfielder was due to hold talks with the club's hierarchy and the incoming boss as pre-season preparations continue.
