Stelling Apologises to Henderson After Brentford Revival

Jeff Stelling has publicly apologised to Jordan Henderson, admitting he misjudged the midfielder's ability to perform at Premier League level after his move to Brentford.

Henderson left Liverpool in July 2023 for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in a £12m deal, but after six months he joined Ajax for £4m. He quickly rediscovered his form in Amsterdam before returning to the Premier League with Brentford this season.

Despite scepticism from pundits, Henderson has delivered eight standout performances for the Bees. Stelling told talkSPORT: 'I'm going to hold my hands up again. Jordan Henderson — oh my goodness. He has proved me and a lot of other people so, so, so wrong. He controls everything. He wants the ball constantly. He makes them tick. He never gives it away. He’s been brilliant for me — Brentford’s player of the season so far, by a mile.'

Ray Parlour also praised Henderson's impact, saying: 'Jordan’s come in with his experience, and I’m sure he’s helping a lot of young players as well. He’s been a fantastic signing. He looks like he’s really enjoying his football.'

Henderson will face his former club Liverpool for the first time since leaving two years ago, as Brentford host the Reds.
