Man Charged with Racially Abusing Bournemouth's Semenyo at Liverpool Game

A 47-year-old man has been charged with racially abusing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during a Premier League match at Anfield. Merseyside Police confirmed the charge relates to an incident at the Liverpool vs Bournemouth fixture on 15 August.

Mark Mogan, of Templehill Close, Dovecot, has been charged with a racially aggravated section 5 public order offence. He has been conditionally bailed and is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on 22 December.

The incident occurred in the 29th minute of the match, prompting referee Anthony Taylor to stop play. A spectator was ejected from the stadium following the alleged abuse. Semenyo, 25, later scored twice in the second half as Bournemouth fought back from two goals down, though Liverpool eventually won 4-2.

Liverpool FC previously stated they were aware of the allegation and condemned racism in all forms. The Football Association also expressed concern and pledged to ensure appropriate action was taken.
