King's Scholar Poised to Reign at Redcar

Tuesday's seven-race Flat meeting at Redcar features Newsboy's nap, King's Scholar, who is fancied to win the 1.25 Wear Your Poppy With Pride Handicap. The three-year-old, trained by Ed Walker, relished the step up to a mile and a half at Catterick last time, finally getting off the mark with a four-and-a-quarter-length victory.

Held up under a confident ride by Joe Leavy, King's Scholar burst to the front approaching the final furlong and quickly sped clear, beating Ma Belle Artiste. Further improvement is expected as he steps up to a mile and three-quarters on Tuesday, with Billy Loughnane in the saddle.

In the opening race, the 12.15 Racing TV Free Trial Now EBF Novice Stakes over seven furlongs, Binhareer looks the one to beat. The William Haggas-trained two-year-old stepped forward from his debut fifth to readily land an 11-runner novice stakes over course and distance last month.

Always prominent, the son of Dark Angel took the lead three furlongs out, and Rossa Ryan only had to push him out under hands and heels to beat Very Muddy Waters by two and a half lengths. A 7lb penalty for that victory is unlikely to stop him, especially with expected improvement to come.
