Altay Bayindir has completed a season-long loan move from Manchester United to Spanish club Celta Vigo, with the deal including a £3.5million option to make the transfer permanent next year. The Turkish goalkeeper took to social media to thank United fans, saying he will miss Old Trafford but that it is not goodbye.
Loan details and financial terms
Celta Vigo will pay 10 percent of the player's wages during the loan, and Manchester United will also receive performance-related bonuses. Should the deal become permanent next summer, United will add a high sell-on clause to the agreement.
Bayindir spent three seasons at Old Trafford following his £4.3million move from Fenerbahce. His departure was confirmed on Friday, with the goalkeeper moving on in search of more game time.
Player's farewell message
In a social media post featuring photos and videos from his time in Manchester, Bayindir wrote: "Thank you for every chant, every message and every moment we have shared. Your support means a lot to me and I'll carry it with me throughout this next chapter of my life. I'll miss Old Trafford but this is not goodbye."
He added: "Wishing a successful season to everyone at the club, my heart and support will always be with you. See you soon Reds!" The post received likes from teammates Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire, while academy product Toby Collyer responded with a red heart emoji.
United's goalkeeper reshuffle
United had already secured a replacement for Bayindir, finalising the acquisition of Karl Darlow on a free transfer earlier this summer. The 35-year-old, who spent the last three years at Leeds United, became available without a fee after his contract expired. He will serve as deputy to Lammens.
This follows Andre Onana's return to Trabzonspor on loan, while Radek Vitek is poised to join Championship outfit Middlesbrough, as he also seeks consistent first-team opportunities.
