Micky van de Ven has indicated he will remain at Tottenham Hotspur after the club secured Premier League survival on the final day of the season. The defender had been linked with a move to Liverpool, but he expressed confidence in the club's future under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Spurs avoided relegation with a 1-0 win over Everton, while West Ham were relegated. Van de Ven, speaking after the match, said: 'I think we have the right people now here. The right manager. So yeah, I’m confident we can do more next year because obviously as you said, two years in a row we end up 17th, it was unacceptable, especially for a club like Spurs.'
The Netherlands international also praised De Zerbi's impact, noting that the manager gave him confidence during a difficult period. 'The gaffer has been unbelievable, I’m not going to lie, since he stepped in,' Van de Ven said. 'He spoke a lot to me and said, “you’re going to be a really important player for me, I need to rely on you, I trust you”.'
With Spurs now looking to rebuild, Van de Ven's commitment is a boost for the club as they aim to improve on two consecutive 17th-place finishes.
