Aston Villa are intent on retaining Emi Martinez this summer and plan to resist Juventus' attempts to sign the Argentina international, according to BirminghamLive.
Reports in Italy have suggested the Serie A club are in talks over a possible deal, but Villa have not entered any formal negotiations with Juventus at this stage.
Martinez was open to leaving Villa last summer, with Manchester United among the clubs interested. United instead signed Senne Lammens, leaving Martinez to stay at Villa Park, where he refocused and helped Unai Emery's side win the Europa League in May.
The goalkeeper also played a key role in securing a fourth-place Premier League finish for the second time in three seasons. Martinez is under contract until 2029, but with his 34th birthday approaching in September, this summer could represent Villa's last opportunity to earn a significant transfer fee.
He is among Villa's highest earners, and the club's wage bill leaves limited room under the Squad Cost Rules. Since joining from Arsenal in 2020, Martinez has made 256 appearances for Villa and kept 80 clean sheets.
