Arsenal could be boosted by the return of Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli for their pre-season friendly against Real Betis at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilian duo were given an extended break after the World Cup and missed the behind-closed-doors win over MK Dons. They trained with the squad in Spain but were left out of the matchday squad for the Girona friendly.
Expected returns and squad management
With more training under their belts, both are likely to feature against Betis. Manager Mikel Arteta was cautious with Piero Hincapie, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres against Girona, withdrawing them after 30 minutes, and may do the same with Gabriel and Martinelli.
Ben White played 60 minutes on his return from a knee injury but could be rested. Youngster Marli Salmon is an option at right-back with Jurrien Timber doubtful.
Midfield and attacking options
Captain Martin Odegaard is due back this week but is unlikely to play due to lack of training. Ethan Nwaneri should get another chance in midfield, likely alongside Havertz and Myles Lewis-Skelly, with several key players still on break and a bid for Bruno Guimaraes rejected.
Max Dowman and Christos Tzolis scored in the 4-1 win over Girona, but Tzolis may make way for Martinelli on the left wing.
Predicted Arsenal XI
Kepa; Salmon, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, Havertz; Dowman, Gyokeres, Martinelli.
Injured: Saliba. Doubt: Timber. Kick-off is at 7.30pm BST, live on Premier Sports.
