Arsenal's summer transfer window saw a significant number of departures, with the club letting go of players who contributed 25 goals last season. Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli were among those sold, and the quartet, including Christian Norgaard, made 150 appearances in the previous campaign. Here is how those players have fared so far at their new clubs.
Trossard's slow start in Turkey
Leandro Trossard has had a fairly slow start to life in Turkey. The Belgian joined Besiktas in the summer for a fee of just over £15 million, signing a three-year contract. He scored his first goal for the club against Erzurumspor FK, sliding in to finish from about eight yards out. Trossard has also registered one assist in seven appearances but has missed the last two matches with a heel injury. He joined up with the Belgium squad for the international break but was not fit to take part in training on Monday.
Martinelli's hat-trick in Saudi Arabia
A £60 million move to Al-Hilal made Gabriel Martinelli the biggest sale Arsenal have ever made. In seven years with the Gunners, Martinelli scored one hat-trick, which came against Portsmouth in the FA Cup last season. The Brazilian has already matched that tally in Saudi Arabia, taking home the match ball from a 6-0 win over Al-Tawooun despite only playing 54 minutes. His second goal was the pick of the bunch, as he chopped inside to sit down a defender before finishing confidently with his left foot. Interestingly, Martinelli has been playing on the right wing for Al-Hilal, an unusual position for him, with Crysencio Summerville preferred on the left. He was not called up by Brazil for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India.
Jesus scoring off the bench
Gabriel Jesus has also been in the goals since leaving Arsenal. He signed for Barcelona for around £12.8 million and has quickly settled into the new environment. The 29-year-old is set to start a match for Hansi Flick's side, but he has already scored twice off the bench. His first goal came against Feyenoord in the Champions League, as he flicked in a header from a Lamine Yamal cross. Jesus then curled a brilliant finish into the top corner in a 7-2 win over Racing Santander.
Nwaneri's loan at Dortmund
Ethan Nwaneri had a strange start to life on loan at Borussia Dortmund. He came on inside the opening half an hour for both of his first two appearances, against Hoffenheim and Villarreal. In the Champions League match against Villarreal, Nwaneri was withdrawn in the final ten minutes, but Niko Kovac revealed that was only a fitness decision. The Dortmund boss said: "He gave everything. If he had started the game, he probably would have come off around the 60th minute." Nwaneri has started the last two matches and has now joined up with the England Under-21s side. He is in line to return to Arsenal to face his former club on November 24, when Dortmund take on Mikel Arteta's side in the Champions League.
Vieira and Norgaard struggles
Hamburg eventually secured Fabio Vieira on a permanent deal, after he impressed on loan at the club last season. It has been a struggle so far for the German side, with Vieira's first two appearances of the campaign both coming off the bench in 5-0 defeats. The mood was lifted just before the international break when Vieira played the full 90 minutes and Hamburg picked up their first win of the season, beating Cologne.
Shortly after he signed for Everton in the summer, Christian Norgaard confirmed he had a "small injury". That has proved to be a more significant issue than he or Everton hoped, and Norgaard is yet to play a single minute for his new club. David Moyes has indicated that Norgaard could return after the international break.
