Arsenal were forced to release a brief statement after supporters encountered streaming difficulties during Christos Tzolis' debut against Girona. The Gunners extended their unbeaten pre-season record with a 4-1 victory over the Spanish side on Saturday, but some fans missed parts of the action due to technical problems on Arsenal.com and the official club app.
The club eventually switched the coverage to YouTube, where the match was streamed for free.
Club apologises for technical issues
"Arsenal supporters, apologies for the inconvenience. We're working through some issues on Arsenal.com and The Arsenal App," the club said in a statement on social media. "Tonight's game is now being streamed for free on our YouTube channel."
The fixture also marked the first competitive appearance of summer signing Christos Tzolis, who joined from Club Brugge in a £34million transfer last month. The Greece international doubled Arsenal's lead on the half-hour after Kai Havertz had opened the scoring in the 16th minute.
Tzolis marks debut with a goal
Arnau Martinez reduced the deficit shortly after the interval, but Max Dowman restored Arsenal's two-goal cushion moments later before Gabriel Jesus added a fourth to seal a comprehensive win.
The match was Arsenal's second of five pre-season fixtures this summer, following last week's 3-0 triumph over MK Dons in a behind-closed-doors friendly, where Tzolis also impressed.
What comes next for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta's squad will now face Real Betis on Wednesday, before meeting Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup next Sunday. They will wrap up their 2026/27 preparations against Como, managed by former Arsenal favourite Cesc Fabregas, four days before the Community Shield clash with Manchester City.
While Tzolis remains Arsenal's only significant signing of the summer so far, the club are reportedly closing in on a deal for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with a fee thought to be in the region of £80million. Arsenal have also been linked with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract, though any deal would likely require a fee well above £100m.
On the outgoing front, Arsenal have allegedly reached an agreement to sell Christian Norgaard to Everton for £7m, which would push their summer departures past £40m following the exits of Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior and Karl Hein.
