Arsenal Confirm 15 Players Leave After UCL Final

Arsenal have confirmed that 15 players will leave the club this summer across both the men's and women's teams, just days after their Champions League final heartache against Paris Saint-Germain. Mikel Arteta's side lost the final on penalties to the French champions, who retained their crown, but the Gunners had earlier ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title.

No First-Team Departures Among Senior Stars

No first-team stars are set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, although eight youngsters will depart at the end of their contracts. The only senior player with an uncertain immediate future is Piero Hincapie, as Arsenal have an option to buy the Ecuador international for a reported £45 million this summer after agreeing a deal with Bayer Leverkusen last year.

The departing youngsters are: Sam Chapman, Harrison Dudziak, Seb Ferdinand, Cam'ron Ismail, Will Lannin-Sweet, Josh Nichols, Samuel Onyekachukwu, and Alexei Rojas-Federushchenko.

Potential Sales on the Horizon

Contracts for Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Christian Norgaard, and Gabriel Martinelli expire in 2027, and the club is expected to cash in on some of these players this summer. Arteta has already challenged Arsenal's transfer chiefs to be 'very ambitious' in the upcoming window.

Arteta Calls for Ambition

Speaking after the defeat to PSG, Arteta said: "It is very tough to accept when you are so consistent all the way to the final, and in the end you lose the trophy on penalties. We need to do better, we have to improve and we have to find different margins to get the outcome we want."

He added: "First of all, I will take a few days with my family and then we will start the process to review what we have done. We will have to start making some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. We are going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it is going to demand us to be very ambitious, very fast and very smart."

Women's Team Departures

There are also significant departures from the women's team this summer, with Katie McCabe, Beth Mead, Manuela Zinsberger, Laia Codina, Victoria Pelova, Barbora Votikova, and Naomi Williams all set to leave.

This is a developing story, and more updates will follow.
