Adolf Silva, a 28-year-old freestyle BMX rider, was airlifted to hospital after a devastating crash during the Red Bull Rampage event in Virgin, Utah, on 19 October 2025. The accident occurred during his second run when he attempted a double backflip off a ledge but under-rotated, landing nearly horizontally with the ground. His front wheel hit the dirt, sending him over the handlebars and landing head-first on the rocky surface before sliding down the grade.
Medical teams responded immediately, and a helicopter transported Silva to a local hospital. Red Bull later confirmed that Silva was alert, conscious, and talking to loved ones, and was transferred for further evaluation. Commentators described the crash as one of the heaviest they had ever seen, with analyst Tyler McCaul calling it 'close to worst case scenario'. The event was paused for 31 minutes before resuming.
This was Silva's fourth appearance at Red Bull Rampage; he won the People's Choice Award in his debut in 2018. Earlier in the day, Swedish rider Emil Johansson also suffered a serious crash, attempting a double tailwhip that sent him off the trail and down a steep rock face. He was airlifted about an hour later, with Red Bull stating he was alert and responsive.
