Whitney Leavitt Quits Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Amid Co-Star Legal Drama

Whitney Leavitt has announced her departure from the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, revealing the news during her final performance in the Broadway production of Chicago on Sunday. Her representatives have since confirmed the exit to multiple outlets.

The series, which follows a group of Mormon momfluencers involved in a swinging sex scandal, has been embroiled in controversy following an alleged domestic violence incident involving co-stars Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen. The pair were granted mutual three-year protective orders in a Utah court last week, requiring them to stay at least 100 feet apart and refrain from contact.

Leavitt, 32, joined the show before competing on Dancing With the Stars, where she finished as a semi-finalist last year. She later made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago. She is also set to star in and executive produce the holiday rom-com All For Love, playing a podcaster who falls for a rugged renovator.

The legal drama surrounding Paul and Mortensen has had wider repercussions. A leaked video of a 2023 fight led ABC to shelve an already-filmed season of The Bachelorette starring Paul, while Hulu paused and later resumed production of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Paul pleaded guilty to an assault charge, which will be reduced from a felony to a misdemeanour if she completes a three-year probation period ending in August.
