Viewers Call for Tom Swarbrick as Permanent GMB Host After Debut
Viewers Want Tom Swarbrick as Permanent GMB Host

Good Morning Britain viewers have expressed strong support for Tom Swarbrick to become a permanent host after he made his debut on the ITV programme. The LBC radio DJ, aged 39, co-presented Monday's (May 25) edition alongside Ranvir Singh, 48, filling in for regular hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls due to the May bank holiday.

Tom, who has previously appeared as a contributor on This Morning and Lorraine, began reviewing news headlines on Good Morning Britain back in March. As the latest episode commenced, Ranvir explained to viewers: 'Now, those of you who don't know who Tom Swarbrick is, but I think you all probably know him because you've seen Tom on a lot of This Morning.' Tom responded: 'A lot of This Morning but the first time sitting here so it's an absolute thrill!'

Ranvir then remarked: 'Well, we normally like to give everyone a warm welcome. We've given you a record-breaking hot welcome today.' She continued: 'If you want to take your jacket off, if you want to take your tie off, just go for it, if you want to chill out. You're more than welcome! How were you getting up 'early' early this morning?' Tom confessed: 'It's been, you know, a sleepless, sweaty night but it's a great thrill and privilege to be here so thank you very much for having me.'

Viewers took to social media to share their enthusiasm. One wrote on X: 'Loving these two. Tom and Ranvir need to be seen more. Thoroughly enjoying #gmb.' Another penned: 'Wearing his best suit an all. Wondering if he'll be covering more during the summer hols perhaps.' A third commented: 'Just put my TV on and I'm very surprised and happy to see Tom Swarbrick on @GMB #LBC #GMB #ThisMorning.' A fourth chimed in: 'Lovely surprise to see Tom today #gmb.'

Near the end of the episode, Ranvir confirmed that she and Tom would return for Tuesday's installment. Elsewhere, Good Morning Britain faced a technical glitch live on air as star Charlotte Hawkins said 'maybe the sun is interfering'. During the episode, Amelia Beckett featured in a segment from West Yorkshire discussing the benefits of spending time outdoors. The show highlighted how Brits reportedly spend just three hours outside a week amid the biggest Bank Holiday heatwave ever. Broadcasting from a forest park, Amelia said: 'Three hours a week really isn't that much, particularly when we know there's so many benefits that come with being outside. It shouldn't be just on days like today, it should be all year round that we [try] and get outside.' The segment lasted a couple of minutes before abruptly ending due to technology problems. Amelia, mid-sentence, was saying: 'You don't have to have a beautiful park like this - it can be a local inner city park...', before being cut off. Back in the studio, Charlotte Hawkins said: 'Oh, Amelia, thank you very much. Unfortunately we're having a bit of difficulty there. Maybe the sun is interfering with the satellite signal. You can always get outside - today is the day if there ever was one, to go out and enjoy the sunshine.' Good Morning Britain airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
