Lisandro Martinez has openly criticised Manchester United's investment in the squad following the club's Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, saying he expected more from the technical director.
Speaking after the match, the Argentina international said: "Yeah, 100 per cent," when asked whether he was referring to the club's investment in the squad. "I expected more from our technical director. I have to be honest, you know? And also, as players, we have to do more, but it's also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these kinds of nights."
Martinez's future at United
There has been speculation over the last couple of months about whether Martinez will still be at United next season. His comments may have provided an answer.
While pundits and fans have complained about the club's lack of summer investment, Michael Carrick has remained diplomatic when asked about the club's transfer policy. Martinez, however, decided to go in two-footed.
Criticism of the technical director
The defender tore into Jason Wilcox in the aftermath of the defeat to Atletico. Although tensions often run high immediately after a game, Martinez was speaking from the heart on an issue that has clearly irked him.
Now the question is whether you agree with the United defender's comments. Is it time someone from within the club lifted their head above the parapet and said what everyone is thinking? Or do you disagree with Martinez, whether that be with what he said or with the fact he openly criticised the United hierarchy?
