CBS Sports host Kate Scott took a swipe at Micah Richards during the Champions League coverage on Tuesday night, referencing Manchester City's guilty verdict. The former City defender, who won a Premier League title and an FA Cup with the club, was left with no response as his colleagues laughed.
Scott's introduction targets Richards
At the start of the show, Scott introduced the panel with a pointed remark about Richards' achievements. She praised Thierry Henry for winning the World Cup, Euros, Champions League, Premier League and La Liga, and Jamie Carragher for his Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup wins.
Turning to Richards, she said: "And then, this is awkward isn't it? He already has less accolades on set than anybody else on set. For now, he is still a Premier League winner and FA Cup winner before he has to mail those medals to somebody at Stoke or Manchester United. Big Meeks, Micah Richards."
Reaction from the panel
Arsenal legend Henry said "wow" three times during the put-down, while Carragher could not hold back his laughter. Richards did not respond, stooping his head and staring at the table before rearranging his pen and phone.
Richards' emotional reaction to verdict
Richards has previously spoken of his devastation after his former club was found guilty of all financial rule breaches. He told Sky Sports: "In terms of Man City, it'll galvanise the players. We've all been in dressing rooms where there is outside noise, you all come together."
He added: "I feel devastated, really, for the fans. Coming through the Man City academy all the way to the first-team, winning trophies, for all that to be in question now is very confusing."
City have appealed the independent Commission's decision and continue to maintain their innocence.
