The family of 26-year-old Tyler Fairman, who died after an alleged hit-and-run in Nottinghamshire, have paid a moving tribute to him, describing his death as 'senseless'. Mr Fairman, a footballer, was on an end-of-season night out with teammates when a red Vauxhall Astra mounted the pavement and struck a group of people in Market Place, Arnold, on 9 May. He sustained serious injuries and died in hospital three days later.
Suspect Duane Anthony, 40, of Bulwell, was arrested on the evening of the incident and charged on 11 May with five counts of attempted murder, as well as aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance. He has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 June, with a trial date set for 7 October.
In a statement released through Nottinghamshire Police, Mr Fairman's family said: 'On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, we lost our beautiful boy, Tyler Shea Fairman. There are no words now, nor will there ever be, to truly describe how broken this has left us all. Our hearts are shattered, and the world has become a much darker place without him in it.'
The family described Mr Fairman as a devoted partner and father to his two-year-old son, with a daughter shortly due to be born. They added: 'He was the kind of person who would do anything for anybody. He was always there for everyone and was a devoted partner, a loyal friend, a loving son and a father figure to so many people around him.'
Detective Inspector Clare Gibson thanked the family for their tribute and reiterated a plea for privacy. 'A murder investigation is now underway following Tyler's death, so anything relating to this incident should be shared with the police, not online, as doing so could potentially impede the pursuit of justice,' she said.
