A 69-year-old man has been charged with two counts of capital murder after a series of shootings in a Dallas suburb left two people dead and three others injured, police said Wednesday.
Seung Ho Han, of Carrollton, Texas, was also charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the attacks on Tuesday in the city's Koreatown neighbourhood. Police said Han admitted to the shootings during an interview with detectives, citing anger over financial disputes in business dealings.
The first shooting occurred just before 10 a.m. at a shopping centre, where officers found four adults shot, including one man who died. While police were at the scene, a second shooting was reported at an apartment complex about 4 miles away, where a man was found dead inside an apartment.
The three injured victims were hospitalised in stable condition, police said. Han was arrested at a nearby grocery store after a short foot chase. He is being held in Denton County Jail; no attorney was listed for him.
Carrollton, located about 20 miles north of Dallas, has a population of around 130,000, with more than 4,000 residents of Korean descent, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Police are continuing to investigate the motive and have not released the victims' names.
