The Princess of Wales has been named the most popular royal in the UK, according to a new YouGov poll. Kate Middleton received a 76 per cent approval rating, up six points since the start of the year, narrowly beating her husband Prince William who came second with 73 per cent.

Princess Anne took third place with 71 per cent, followed by King Charles on 63 per cent, Prince Edward on 54 per cent, and Queen Camilla on 50 per cent. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle scored 31 per cent and 26 per cent respectively, while Prince Andrew languished at the bottom with just six per cent.

The poll also found that 58 per cent of Brits have a positive view of the monarchy overall, though support varies sharply by age: 79 per cent among over-65s compared to only 32 per cent among 18-24 year olds.

Kate's popularity surge comes amid a difficult year; she underwent major abdominal surgery in January and later began chemotherapy after cancer was detected. She has since taken time away from public duties. The princess recently surprised fans by sending thank-you cards in response to well-wishes, with recipients sharing images on social media.
