The fiancée of former Syracuse quarterback Rex Culpepper has paid an emotional tribute to her 'soulmate' following his death at the age of 28. Culpepper, the son of ex-NFL star Brad Culpepper, died from injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident in Georgia on Saturday, just a month after proposing to his partner Savanna Morgan.
Morgan confirmed the tragic news in a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing a series of photos and a lengthy message in honour of Culpepper. 'No one expects to meet the love of your life and lose them in only 6 short years after meeting,' she wrote. 'Rex didn’t always believe in soulmates but towards the end he told me that he didn’t realize what having a soulmate felt like until we felt like extensions of each other.'
Morgan described how the couple lived every day to the fullest, learning new skills, travelling, and spending every moment together. 'I don't regret a single day in our 6 years,' she said. Culpepper made 30 appearances for Syracuse Orange, completing 139 passes for 11 touchdowns, primarily as a backup quarterback. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 2018 but was given the all-clear three months later, famously playing in a spring game during chemotherapy.
Rex's younger brother, Judge, also played college football at Penn State and Toledo before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. Their mother Monica appeared on the reality TV series Survivor in 2012 and returned the following year with Brad.
