Scaramucci: Milley Hates Trump More Than Melania

Anthony Scaramucci, who served just 11 days as Donald Trump's White House communications director in 2017, has revealed who he believes detests the US President even more than his wife, Melania. Speaking on the podcast How To Fail With Elizabeth Day, he named retired General Mark Milley, Trump's former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as holding even greater animosity towards the President.

Wife's Warnings Ignored

Scaramucci also opened up about his turbulent experience working for Trump, revealing that his second wife, Deidre, had urged him not to take the job because of what she had heard about the President from her friends in New York's social circles.

He said: "And she was like, you can't go work for him. I mean, she really despises him. I mean, I always tease and say that she hates him almost as much as Melania hates him because that's like the..."

However, Scaramucci then suggested there was another person who held even greater animosity towards the President. "Actually, I think I found one person that hates Trump more than Melania, that's like Mark Milley. General Milley hates Trump more than Melania, other than that," he said.

Milley's Fallout With Trump

Milley has emerged as an outspoken critic of the President. In January 2025, he had his security detail and security clearance revoked after Trump returned to office, with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth instructing officials to examine his conduct and reassess his military rank.

Milley had previously described Trump as a "fascist", while the President accused the retired general of treason over telephone conversations with his Chinese counterpart during the closing weeks of Trump's first term, including in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol riot. Milley is among several former officials to have lost security protections following confrontations with Trump, including former health official Anthony Fauci.

First Lady's Comments Questioned

The comments come amid fresh scrutiny of Melania's relationship with the President, with political commentator David Pakman recently questioning her portrayal of her husband's work habits. During an appearance on Fox and Friends, the First Lady offered an enthusiastic assessment of Trump's approach to his role.

"He's very focused, he has a lot on his plate. I think he's doing the best he can, he works non-stop, he has the most energy of anybody. He's from morning til evening, he's non-stop working," she said.

Pakman described the comments as "extraordinary", questioning how Melania could be so familiar with her husband's daily routine given reports that they spend considerable periods apart. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "I think the funniest question is something that is unsaid. How would Melania know that Trump is working from morning until evening. Melania is very independent from Donald Trump, compared to other first ladies.

"In fact, we have reason to believe she's completely estranged from Donald Trump. It seems as though they are mostly living separately. They have separate bedrooms, when they're even in the same building."

The commentator conceded that Melania might have access to her husband's schedule, but questioned how she could assess his working hours if they seldom spent time together.
