Former President Donald Trump unleashed a venomous Thanksgiving night rant on his Truth Social platform, targeting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz with derogatory language and making inflammatory claims about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar while outlining a chilling "cure" for illegal immigration.
Thanksgiving Tirade: Personal Attacks and Immigration Fury
In an extraordinary late-night message during the holiday, Trump referred to Governor Walz as "the seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota" and accused him of allowing hundreds of thousands of Somali migrants to "prey" on innocent people in his state. The former president claimed that "Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for 'prey'" while residents remain locked indoors.
Trump then turned his attention to Representative Ilhan Omar, mocking her "swaddling hijab" and repeating previously debunked allegations that she illegally entered the United States by marrying her brother. "Probably came into the USA illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother," he wrote, despite Omar having consistently denied what she calls "disgusting lies."
The Deadly Shooting That Preceded the Rant
The social media outburst came hours after Trump announced that National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom had tragically succumbed to her injuries on Thanksgiving following a shooting in Washington DC just yards from the White House earlier in the week.
Authorities identified the alleged gunman as 29-year-old Afghan migrant Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who was admitted into the country under the Biden administration in 2021 following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. According to reports, Lakanwal had previously worked with the CIA to combat jihadists during the war.
The other injured National Guard soldier, Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition and is fighting for his life following the violent incident.
Trump's Radical Immigration Solution
In his Thanksgiving message, Trump vowed to implement what he called "reverse migration" as his solution to illegal immigration, claiming it was the only way to "fully cure this situation." He accused the Biden administration of admitting "disruptive populations" into the US through what he termed "illegal autopen approval."
The former president outlined several drastic immigration measures he would pursue, including:
- Ending all immigration from "third world" countries
- Demanding urgent reexamination of every green card issued to immigrants from 19 "countries of concern"
- Ending all federal benefits for noncitizens
- Denaturalizing migrants who undermine the US
- Deporting foreign nationals deemed security risks or "non-compatible with Western Civilization"
The list of targeted nations includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
Political Fallout and Responses
Governor Walz responded to Trump's insults by questioning the former president's mental state, writing simply on X: "Release the MRI results." This reference followed revelations that Trump had undergone a previously undisclosed MRI scan during his last health check-up.
Representative Omar's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Daily Mail, though she has consistently denied the marriage allegations. The Heritage Foundation and her hometown newspaper, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, have previously stated they "could neither conclusively confirm nor rebut the allegation."
Trump concluded his inflammatory message with a backhanded holiday greeting: "Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for."
