A significant fire erupted at a block of flats in Thornton Heath during the early hours of Saturday morning, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade. Approximately 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines were dispatched to the scene on Lenham Road to combat the blaze.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire had engulfed part of the ground and first floors, as well as the entire roof, of a mid-terraced house that had been converted into flats.
