Liverpool FC Fan Dies After Car Crash Walking Home From Match

A Liverpool FC fan has died following a car crash on his way home from watching the team play at Anfield. Neil Bradley, 59, originally from Liverpool but living in Oldham, was driving home after Liverpool's 2-0 win over Aston Villa when his car collided with a wall and lamppost on Lister Drive in Fairfield at around 10.15pm on Saturday. Merseyside Police confirmed no other vehicles were involved.

Mr Bradley was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. His family paid tribute, describing him as a 'ray of sunshine' who loved running, trainspotting, rock music and supporting his boyhood club. They said: 'Neil had an insatiable thirst for life... He will be missed dearly.'

Fans expressed their sorrow on social media. Karyn Somerville wrote: 'Heartbreaking xx Thoughts and prayers are with all his Family and Friends.' Teresa O'Connell said: 'How sad, deepest sympathy to all his family and friends.' Joan Chidlow added: 'Just before Christmas too. RIP.'

Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'Our thoughts are with Neil's family at this devastating time. We are continuing to investigate the collision and the events leading up to it.' He appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
