A British woman has vanished in Spain after her campervan was stolen while she was travelling home to the UK. Wendy Iles, who was accompanied by her Springer Spaniel, was last heard from at around 9pm on Sunday in the Alfafar area near Valencia.
Her daughter Louise has launched an urgent appeal for information, stating that her mother appeared confused during their last conversation and failed to arrive at a recommended hotel. Louise believes Wendy's passport may have been stolen and her mobile phone has been switched off.
Concerned relatives have alerted both Interpol and UK police. However, Louise expressed frustration, saying British police will not track bank transactions until she is classified as high risk, and Spanish police will not search until 48 hours have passed.
Wendy is described as 5ft tall and was travelling in a campervan that was stolen. She was en route to Caen in northern France to catch a ferry back to Britain. Her daughter has turned to expat forums to spread the word among other travellers.
In a social media update, Louise shared an Interpol reference number and urged anyone with information to come forward. The family continues to appeal for sightings of Wendy in the Valencia area.
