The Government has announced that airlines will be permitted to cancel flights several weeks in advance if they anticipate fuel shortages this summer, under new contingency measures designed to mitigate the effects of the ongoing conflict with Iran.
New Contingency Plans
These plans allow carriers to adjust their schedules earlier than usual, potentially consolidating passengers from multiple flights onto fewer aircraft to conserve fuel. This means travellers could be moved from their originally booked service to a similar alternative.
Passenger Concerns
While the measures aim to prevent last-minute disruptions, questions remain over whether they will safeguard holiday plans or lead to increased uncertainty. The public is invited to share their views in the Morning Mail poll, with results to be published in tomorrow's newsletter.
