An Afghan national who threatened to kill Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in a TikTok video has been sentenced to five years in prison. Fayaz Khan, 26, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court for making threats to kill and entering the UK illegally on a small boat.
The court heard that Khan, believed to be Fayaz Husseini, posted the video in October last year after Farage uploaded a YouTube video titled 'the journey of an illegal migrant' referencing Khan. In the TikTok video, Khan said: 'Englishman Nigel, don’t talk shit about me. ... I’m coming to England. I’m going to pop, pop, pop,' while making gun gestures and pointing to an AK-47 tattoo on his face.
Farage attended the sentencing with security guards and said he was 'happy with the win' but 'deeply concerned' Khan could be released in 18 months. As Khan was taken down to the cells, he shouted at Farage, accusing him of wanting to 'use me because you want to be prime minister.'
Khan had previously pleaded guilty to attempting to enter the UK illegally but was found guilty of making threats to kill after a trial. The judge noted that Khan had given a false name to British authorities and had a criminal record in Sweden, including an outstanding six-month prison sentence.
Khan's defence barrister, Charles Royle, said Khan had asked to apologise to Farage for any offence caused. A Home Office spokesperson welcomed the sentence, stating that threatening violence against an elected MP is unacceptable and that the government will seek to deport foreign nationals who commit serious crimes.
