Trans+ History Week is set to return from 4th to 10th May 2026, with Trans+ History Day on 6th May, coinciding with the anniversary of the 1933 Nazi raid on the world's first Trans+ clinic in Berlin. The week-long event, organised by Trans+ History Week CIC, aims to honour the history of transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse and intersex individuals.
This year's event comes amid a pivotal moment for the transgender community following the Supreme Court's ruling in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers, and ahead of parliamentary scrutiny of the EHRC's Code of Practice. Organisers say the community is finding ways to live in hope and joy despite the challenges.
Trans+ History Week has raised over £100,000 and invested in more than 100 Trans+ creatives through a partnership with QueerAF. The programme includes a new awareness campaign, Reflections, which will run from 30 April to 10 May across UK locations including Liverpool Central Station, Manchester's Hotel Football, and London's Boxpark Wembley.
According to TransActual's Trans Lives report released in March 2026, 99% of Trans+ people say UK media coverage has damaged their mental health, 96% report it has altered how strangers treat them, and 91% say it has affected family behaviour. The Reflections campaign highlights these findings.
On Trans+ History Day, a community evening with headline sponsor Deloitte UK will feature a live recording of the QueerAF podcast. Founder and director Marty Davies said: 'Trans+ history runs deep, and it runs through everything. In calm waters and rough tides, Trans+ communities have always found a way.'
