The Hills star Spencer Pratt has conceded the Los Angeles mayoral race, but in a video posted on social media, he declared 'war' against the two candidates advancing to the general election. Pratt, who did not contest the election results, said his campaign to 'save' Los Angeles was just beginning.
In the video, Pratt acknowledged that 'the campaign portion of my mission to save Los Angeles is coming to a close', but added that he was moving on to 'the next, more interesting phase'. He claimed to have damaging recordings of one of the advancing candidates, stating: 'We have some recordings of one of your exalted candidates doing and saying something that would make her resign in shame.'
Pratt, a registered Republican, faced an uphill battle in the largely Democratic city. He secured an endorsement from Donald Trump, who had made unfounded claims that California's elections were 'crooked'. Despite earlier saying he would leave LA if he did not win, Pratt now says he is staying to expose what he called a 'corrupt machine'.
The former reality star launched his campaign in January, on the anniversary of the Palisades fire, which destroyed his home. He centred his campaign on concerns about the wildfire and the future of Los Angeles. On Monday, progressive city councilmember Nithya Raman edged out Pratt to advance, and will face incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in November.
