Zelenskyy Accuses Russia of Sabotaging Peace Talks with 'Typical Lies'

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of attempting to undermine peace negotiations after the Kremlin claimed it thwarted a Ukrainian drone attack on Vladimir Putin's residence. The Ukrainian president described the allegation as 'typical Russian lies' during a visit to Florida, where he met Donald Trump for two hours on Sunday.

Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing to bomb government buildings in Kyiv, echoing a similar strike in September. He said the alleged attack story was a 'complete fabrication' intended to justify further aggression and Russia's refusal to end the war. Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, claimed 91 drones were shot down and that retaliatory targets had been selected.

Trump said he learned of the alleged attack from Putin and expressed anger, calling it 'not the right time' for such actions. However, he acknowledged the claim might be false. Russian officials alleged British involvement, which Ukraine's foreign minister dismissed as a tactic of accusing others of one's own plans.

Zelenskyy revealed that the US offered strong security guarantees for 15 years, but the status of eastern Donbas remained unresolved. He said the guarantees would be voted on by both US Congress and Ukraine's parliament, and he urged Trump to consider extending them to 30–50 years for a historic decision.
