Kev Townsend is set to make a dramatic return to Emmerdale, with life-or-death consequences for his long-lost son, Lewis Barton. The character, played by Chris Coghill, first appeared last year as Robert Sugden's prison husband and quickly became known for his psychopathic yet vulnerable nature.
Kev left the village with a broken heart after failing to win Robert from Aaron Dingle, but returned before Christmas after being captured by Robert's brother John. He escaped and warned Aaron of danger before fleeing again. Now, he is back to open a café called 'A Slice of Kev-en' and reconnect with Lewis.
Viewers have seen Kev reveal to Liam Cavanagh that he had a one-night stand with a woman named Emma, who put their baby up for adoption. Only Nicola King knows the truth and previously gave Kev an ultimatum: tell Lewis or leave. Kev chose to leave, believing Lewis was safer without an unstable father.
However, Kev has changed his mind. Upcoming episodes show Lewis deciding not to join Vinny Dingle on a trip to Madeira, then changing his mind and rushing to catch a taxi to the airport. As he leaves, a van screeches to a halt nearby, suggesting a dangerous reunion with his father.
