Emmerdale Boss Reveals Kev's Return Focuses on Lewis, Not Robron
Emmerdale Boss Reveals Kev's Return Focuses on Lewis

Emmerdale fans can breathe a sigh of relief as producer Laura Shaw has clarified the intentions behind Kev Townsend's upcoming return to the ITV soap. Chris Coghill reprises his role as the divisive character, but this time his focus is entirely on building a father-son relationship with Lewis Barton, not on breaking up Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle.

Kev's Return Explained

Earlier this year, Kev held Robert and Aaron hostage with a sword before fleeing the village. His vendetta stemmed from Robert ending their affair. However, Shaw confirmed to Inside Soap magazine that Kev's return will steer clear of Robron drama. "When he returns, he's very much back for Lewis and it's going to be about building a father-and-son relationship between them and building on the Barton family as well. Robert and Aaron are happy, and Kev will kind of leave that alone," she said. "The door is closed between Robert and Kev, certainly for the foreseeable future."

Karaoke Returns Despite Actor's Plea

While Kev may have abandoned his pursuit of Robert, his love for karaoke remains. Shaw revealed that when she asked Coghill to return, he requested a clause in his contract to avoid more karaoke scenes. "He said, 'As long as you put a clause in my contract that says I'm not doing any more karaoke.' And I said, 'Absolutely no chance!' So, yes, it is scripted that there will be more karaoke," she confessed.

Patsy Kensit Returns as Sadie King

In other Emmerdale news, Patsy Kensit is reprising her role as Sadie King after 20 years. Shaw described her return as "explosive" and "guaranteed to shock." Sadie's history with Robert and others in the village promises high drama. Kensit expressed her excitement, saying, "I am really excited to return to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
