Vladimir Solovyov, a key propaganda voice for the Kremlin, launched a furious tirade against NATO and Western powers on his flagship broadcast, warning that Western trade routes and shipping will "burn everywhere" as Moscow turns away from diplomacy.
No target out of reach
Bragging about Russia's long-range missile capabilities following a strike scare near Poland, Solovyov said no target was out of reach. Addressing reports of a missile landing near Polish territory, he sneered: "Let's not harbour any illusions: if the need be, we can reach any spot anywhere."
New 'Eurasian military-political alliance'
Solovyov claimed that the US and its NATO allies were naively assuming their maritime trade infrastructure remained safe even as they escalated confrontation with Moscow. He said a new "Eurasian military-political alliance" uniting Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Belarus was taking shape to counter Western power.
"What makes you think that your transport lines are safe? You could be on fire everywhere, and your navy won’t help. This is the time we live in, an attack is stronger than a defence," he declared.
US power mocked
The state TV presenter also mocked the US's military standing following recent maritime incidents, claiming global powers no longer fear American power. "No one fears Americans," he sneered, pointing to Western failures in past foreign military campaigns, including in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Guest calls for strength over diplomacy
The broadcast escalated further when guest analyst Dimitri Simes joined the show to urge the Kremlin to discard diplomatic talks entirely and adopt raw military power against the West. Simes issued a chilling threat toward Western heads of state, including European leaders and the new British Prime Minister, Andy Burnham.
Claiming Russia holds total power over its geopolitical rivals, Simes told viewers: "We tend to forget that we own the lives of the lives of our Western adversaries... They keep living only for as long as we allow it."
He added: "I'm afraid that without a direct response against them, not in the language of diplomacy, but in the only language they understand, the language of strength."
Pattern of threats on Russian state TV
The unhinged tirade is the latest in a long line of nuclear threats barked on Russian state TV. Kremlin hosts regularly threaten to flatten European cities and strike NATO ports to spook Western voters and push allied governments into backing down over Ukraine.
Western intelligence experts often dismiss Solovyov's rants as desperate propaganda designed to pump up domestic morale, but the intensity of the threats shows how vicious Kremlin TV is willing to get as tensions with Britain and its allies hit breaking point.
