The attack came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Washington and held a closed-door meeting with President Donald Trump lasting nearly an hour and a half, which the White House described as positive and productive. Iran has not commented directly on the strike, but the move is seen as a direct threat to both Trump and Netanyahu.
The US also worked with Saudi forces to strike sites in Iraq that Tehran-backed militias have used to launch attacks in recent days. The situation remains tense as the pause in fighting continues to falter.
