Good Morning Britain Interrupts Broadcast for Trump Iran Peace Deal Update
Good Morning Britain Halts for Trump Iran Deal News

Good Morning Britain issued a major update on US President Donald Trump during Monday's episode. Kate Garraway halted the programme for a breaking news update, handing over to ITV's International Editor, Emma Murphy.

Murphy confirmed that President Donald Trump had reached a peace deal with Iran, declaring 'Let the oil flow!' in an official announcement on Truth Social. Asked if the deal was as promising as it sounds, Murphy told Garraway: 'It'll be unsurprising to know that this is being sold as a huge win by President Trump. In reality, it's not the huge success that he's selling it as. Basically, this is an agreement to extend the ceasefire and hold more talks in the hope of reaching a peace deal.'

Murphy's Analysis of the Deal

'It's not a peace deal,' Murphy emphasised. 'There are also a lot of details that are unclear at this point. The first main issue is the Strait of Hormuz,' she continued, noting that the hope is to get it opened by the end of the week following a signing in Geneva, which may reduce global energy prices.

'The rest of the issue, so when we're talking about Iran's nuclear program, Iran's enrichment of uranium, Iran's missile stock, they are all still there waiting to be discussed. The issues that this war supposedly started over are not actually directly a part of this deal at this point. So, there is a huge challenge for those negotiators to get through these many, many thorny issues, and of course, there is then the issue of Lebanon and Israel's position: whether Israel will allow this to move from a discussion to a peace deal.'

Expected Signing on Friday

Murphy confirmed that if all goes to plan, the US and Iran are expected to sign a deal on Friday, but in the meantime, 'Let's see, it's a long way 'til Friday.'

In a major development between the US and Iran, Trump confirmed that he had 'completed' a deal with Iran on Sunday evening. 'The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorise the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorise the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,' he wrote on social media. 'Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!'
