Beyond Paradise Star Jamie Bamber Joins Spy Thriller The Hive

Beyond Paradise fans said an emotional goodbye to the fourth season last week. However, while the show is on a break, its cast members are far from idle. Following a series packed with longing glances and unspoken feelings, Archie Hughes (Jamie Bamber) was finally reunited with Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi), who dropped her defences in the closing episode of series four.

While BBC viewers eagerly anticipate how their blossoming romance unfolds in series five, Jamie Bamber has wasted no time throwing himself into a brand new venture. Currently in post-production, the 53-year-old actor is set to appear in the forthcoming espionage thriller The Hive, which was first announced last year.

About The Hive

In the film, The Hive is a high-tech counter-terrorism unit tasked with neutralising threats. They face their biggest mission yet when a political summit is about to be held in Tenerife. The synopsis continues: "Commander Kate McKenzie (played by Franka Potente), known for her ruthless, no-nonsense methods, needs an insider with knowledge of a dangerous terrorist group posing a constant risk."

Undercover agent María Gómez (Sophie Cookson) arrives at the Hive on the eve of the summit, just as a bomb explodes in the city centre, accompanied by a warning: a senior UN executive will be killed in 90 minutes. McKenzie then mobilises her elite team: the hunt has begun, and María may prove pivotal.

Cast and Production

Bamber's role in The Hive remains undisclosed, though the Beyond Paradise and Law and Order: UK star will be appearing alongside The Bourne Identity's Franka Potente and Kingsman actress Sophie Cookson. Rounding out the cast are Young Wallander's Adam Palsson and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon's Gonzola Bouza.

Production got underway during the summer of 2025 in Tenerife, before the crew relocated to Cologne, Germany, to complete filming. No official release date for The Hive has been confirmed as yet, though it is anticipated to land on screens later this year.

Beyond Paradise Return

Separately, production on Beyond Paradise is due to kick off in July 2026 in Devon, with the popular BBC drama set to make its return in early 2027. Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
