A dominatrix has revealed that medical roleplay is a common request from clients, explaining that the attraction lies in the combination of vulnerability and control.
Writing for Metro, Melissa Todd, a writer and performer, described how a long-standing client in his 40s named Sean asked for a punishment session involving a medical exam. She played a school matron conducting a hygiene inspection, with an elaborate sequence of examinations and instructions, followed by punishment for a supposed lapse in cleanliness.
A common fantasy
Todd said she gets about eight requests a month for medical scenarios, noting that the imagery is familiar from porn and online fetish communities. She explained that medical fetishism, or medfet, takes an experience usually associated with anxiety or embarrassment and turns its emotional meaning upside down.
According to Todd, the attraction often lies in the combination of vulnerability and control. A medical professional is permitted to do things to your body that would be unacceptable in almost any other environment, she said, adding that for someone who enjoys submission, that temporary surrender of responsibility can be extraordinarily powerful.
Attention and choice
The examination also offers attention, with somebody looking closely and noticing details that others would politely ignore. In real medicine, that attention is accompanied by fear that something might be wrong, whereas in medfet the uncertainty has been removed.
Todd wrote that the fantasy allows sensations to be rearranged into something chosen and controlled, and that the person surrendering control retains the most important control of all: the decision to participate.
