British wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, known as Pac, died of natural causes, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The 40-year-old All Elite Wrestling (AEW) performer was found unconscious in a rental car on 27 September in Chicago, Illinois, one night after wrestling at an AEW event.
Discovery and confirmation
A 911 caller reported finding Satterley 'passed out', and police pronounced him deceased shortly after arriving at the scene. No cause was announced at the time, but a spokesperson for the medical examiner's office has now told the California Post that Pac died from bronchial asthma.
Career highlights
Born in Newcastle, Satterley was regarded as one of the greatest wrestling talents to emerge from the UK. He competed on independent circuits in the UK, US, Mexico and Japan before joining WWE in 2012, where he became a cruiserweight champion. He moved to AEW in 2019, appearing at the promotion's first press conference and their first All Out event that year, and remained with the company for the rest of his career.
Tributes and legacy
The day before his death, he wrestled Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at All Out. AEW held 'A Tribute to Pac' on 30 September, and WWE also aired a special tribute package featuring several superstars paying their respects.
