Graham's Dairy Farm has recalled three batches of semi-skimmed milk sold across England after contamination with veterinary medicines. The Stirlingshire farm issued a recall notice on July 22 for one-pint, one-litre, and two-litre bottles with a best before date of July 31, 2026.
Contamination details
A trace level of penicillin, an antibiotic, may be present in the affected batches, making them unsafe for consumers with an antibiotic allergy. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an alert advising that the milk poses a health risk to those allergic to antibiotics.
Customers who purchased the affected milk are warned not to consume it and urged to return it to the store for a full refund. The farm, based in Bridge of Allan, supplies supermarkets including Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Home Bargains, and SPAR.
Company response
Graham's Dairy Farm stated that no other products or use-by dates are affected. Point of sale notices have been issued to all stores selling the affected milk. The full recall notice said: "At Grahams Family Dairy we believe that the quality of our products and the safety of our consumers is paramount. Due to this we are asking our customers not to consume but to return the following products: Grahams Family Dairy 1 Pint Semi Skim Use By 31st July; Grahams Family Dairy 1lt Semi Skim Use By 31st July; Grahams Family Dairy 2lt Semi Skim Use By 31st July."
The FSA is responsible for protecting public health and issues alerts on its website. This recall follows recent food alerts from Waitrose for chocolate chip brioche rolls and PepsiCo for Doritos Chilli Heatwave.
