NHS 24 urges Lanarkshire locals to follow three P’s this summer
NHS 24 urges three P’s for summer health in Lanarkshire

As people in Lanarkshire prepare for holidays and warmer weather, NHS 24 is urging everyone to take simple steps to stay well and avoid summer health mishaps. Launching the latest phase of its seasonal health campaign, the health service is reminding the public to remember the three P’s: Pack, Plan, Protect – to help prevent avoidable issues and ensure they can enjoy the months ahead.

What are the three P’s?

Pack – Do not forget your repeat prescription medicines when travelling away from home, even if you are only away for a night or two. Plan – Keep remedies at home to deal with common issues like bites and stings, sunburn, or hay fever. Protect – Stay safe in spells of hot weather by seeking shade, wearing sun protection, and keeping an eye on vulnerable people such as young children, older adults, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.

Dr Siama Latif, Associate Medical Director at NHS 24, said: “Summer is a time when many of us are travelling, spending more time outdoors, or enjoying a break from our usual routines. While that is good for our wellbeing, it can also bring an increased risk of things like sunburn, insect bites, allergies, and minor injuries. Forgetting medication, not having simple remedies at home, or spending too long in the sun can quickly lead to problems. Especially for young children, older people, and those with existing conditions.”
